Matt-Preston-dessert-cookbook-review-whatsonthrlistMy name is Joanne aka Joanna, aka mickeydownunder, aka FANG and I blush

What’s does “blushing” have to do with Matt Preston‘s Fast, Fresh and Unbelievably Delicious Lemon Love Notes, I “hear” you say?

Courtesy of Pan McMillan Australia, I’ve made Matt’s mother-in-law’s French Letters.

For my readers who “may” not be familiar with the term, French letters are condoms and thanks to Matt, I’ve made her “Unbelievably Delicious” “wonderful” recipe!

I can stop blushing now.

You will just have to buy the book to read the story behind this recipe!

Matt certainly delivers 204 “exciting fresh”, colorfully photographed recipes that “you’ll want to cook again and again.”

Not only does Matt provide Some Thoughts about Kids and Cooking, but 18 Rules for Perfect Salads.

Pick a Theme (#15) and Add Crunch (#10) works for me!

Do you know what Matt’s “worst kitchen disaster of 2011” was?

I do!

When you purchase Fast, Fresh and Unbelievably Delicious, you’ ll know too!
Dessert-Matt-Preston-whatsonthelistMatt’s Fast, Fresh and Unbelievably Delicious (trust me, you will not stop saying this expression too!), contains BBQ recipes, Light Meals, Pasta and Rice, Roasts and Braises, Teatime recipes, Desserts and recipe for Christmas!

I really enjoyed reading 22 Not So Secret Herbs and Spices Everyone Should Have and How to Use Them.

One of my favorite spices starts with the letter F, just like French Letters, um, I mean Lemon Love Notes! lol
Matt “sizzles” with his 4 Ways With Sausages!

I enjoyed the “secret society of sausage sizzlers”; perked MY curiosity!

I will remember Matt’s prawn noses and legs reminder and the Marco, Marco, Marco fun surrounding “poo shoot” too!

I honestly wanted to devour Matt’s Lamb Burgers with Feta, Mint and Yogurt Dressing and his Chicken Skewers with Satay!
Fast, Fresh and Unbelievably Delicious recipes (especially the French Letters recipe), MADE MY DAY!
Matt-Preston-cookbook-Fast-fresh-jpgHow HOT is Your Chilli and Seven Things to Do with Chilli, Matt shares too!

I really liked  4 Ways with Salmon!

I am a “very visual” person and the photo really appealed to me as it is “mouth-watering!”

Matt shares his Virtuous Fish and Chips and why they are so special to him.

I really enjoy reading stories behind the foods and recipes!

Rustic Cockles for Sixtus and Matt “liked the idea of becoming the Pope”…., I’ll leave this thought with you!

Are YOU having fun being tantalized by HOW many Fast, Fresh and Unbelievably Delicious recipes Matt provides in this cookbook?

I loved it when I read Matt say, “It’s as simple as this…canned tuna turns any imaginative cook into a culinary MacGyver.”

I always wanted to be MacGyver’s off-sider aka action partner! lol

It IS a Bonus Sneaky Soup Section; please do not make me say that three times fast! lol

What soup as a kid in Andalucia with his Dad is most memorable to Matt?

I’ll give you a hint, it has “crunch”, is “Unbelievably Delicious” and Matt provided a great tip for “The slippery jellied texture….”

3 Ways and More with Zucchini “intrigued me” with “pick your zucchini like your men…”

Please purchase Fast, Fresh and Unbelievably Delicious, so I don’t have to explain

The Ten Rules of Perfect Pasta Cooking did help me!

I certainly wouldn’t argue with Matt as his “family has been cooking macaroni cheese for over 250 years”, true!

I’ll agree with Matt Aglio, Olio E Peperoncino sounds much more romantic than…..
I can’t give all of Matt’s secrets away today! lol

I didn’t know there were so many ways (12) with Old Bread and 4 Ways with New Bread, but Matt shares them too!

With almost tear in my eye, Mum’s Cabbage Rolls made me smile too!

I can’t wait to make Matt’s mum’s recipe!

Really enjoyed “Some Thoughts On Teatime,” and agree that “dishes and foods offer the most tangible connection” with family.

Matt shares his grandfather’s handwritten Storing Biscuit 1765; the story to me is very special indeed.
Matt-Preston-dessert-cake-whatsonthelistMatt’s Magnificent 7 Easy Cheat’s Ice Cream and Granita’s got my attention right away!

Our closest circle of friends; we are known as the Magnificent 7 and “thought” Matt wrote this chapter for my friends and me!

I told you I “blush” easily!

Matt’s 12 Tips to Keep Your Soufflé High and Handsome made an impression on me!

What Matt has Learned about Finger Food contains a vast amount of experience and practicality!

You don’t have Fast, Fresh and Unbelievably Delicious (but you will), so for now you will have to trust me!

I like Matt’s Nutty Rumballs; one of four Christmas gift ideas shared!

I did “wonder” which of the Angelic Angels was missing from heaven on the day of Matt’s Fast, Fresh and Unbelievably Delicious photo shoot?

When you buy Fast, Fresh and Unbelievably Delicious, you might let Matt know who the angel most looks like! lol

They say one needs to leave before one returns, true!

I was honestly almost sad to leave the back cover of Fast, Fresh and Unbelievably Delicious, but I know I can always return to open the front cover when tomorrow is another day too!

The words, thoughts and expressions are my own and have not been influenced because Fast, Fresh and Unbelievably Delicious made its way via Pan McMillan Australia to me!

Follow up note:
I used a ceramic round fluted pan 25cm (~10 inches) x 4 cm (~1.6 inches) and it came out “perfect” the first time!

Chef Georgio aka hubby devoured two slices with love today!

With a smile on my face as I walked out of the kitchen, I heard “Unbelievably Delicious.”

Matt Preston’s book isn’t available here yet, I wish it was, it sounds both entertaining and full of fun recipes. GG

  2. Hehe, I have to buy the book and see about those “condoms”. Did I make you blush again?:) Matt’s book sounds wonderful, thanks for sharing Joanne!

  3. I have his other book but I must admit that I haven’t cooked from it yet! But your review makes the new one worth taking a peek at 🙂

  4. I haven’t heard the term, ‘French Letter’ for a very long time. I’ve seen the book in the shops and I’ve been thinking it would be a great one to add to my collection. Not only a good cook, he’s a very talented and witty writer so I have no doubt his stories in the book are very entertaining xx

  5. Matt’s recipes are always simple and easy! Tried his no knead bread before. Just so nice!
