My dad taught me many good lessons in life and he departed his wisdom in the most unique way!

I know they may sound like cliches, but “Appreciate every day!,” “Always say what you want to say to people, as you never know if you will get another day!,” “Be grateful for what you have!,” and a small “Thank you!” goes a long way!

To my dad, these were only small snippets of his life philosophy that he lived each day by and now through me!

So while I was sitting behind the computer screen today FREEZING from this weather, I thought I would say “Thank you” to some special bloggers for what they do…does it get any better?

I love Linda from Meal Planning Maven‘s passion for combining her love “of recipes and cooking with planning quick, delicious and healthy meals for all budgets.”

Linda is always lending a helping hand and serving up a dose of support daily, helping people “to create a healthy eating lifestyle.”

I hope you enjoy Linda’s Mediterranean-Spiced Chicken Thighs and as Linda shared:
“get ready to enjoy a trip to the Mediterranean without ever leaving your dinner table.
Mediterranean-Spiced-Chicken-Thighs-14-723x393I enjoy stories behind foods and why bloggers create and make what they do!

Patty from Cooking On A Budget had Steakhouse Barbecue Shrimp – Orleans Style at her favorite Steakhouse and tried recreating what she always ordered, but previously, “it was fairly good, but not exactly.”
Top Shot BBQ Shrimp
Patty gives unending support and encouragement daily and honestly, I don’t know how Patty does all she does, but am proud to say Patty is not only a great blogger, but more importantly, is “an inspirational friend.”

While April J. Harris from the 21st Century Housewife and I have never met, we have similar childhood memories of food and April has a beautiful personality whose smile can always make me smile, even on the not so smiley days!

Not only do I enjoy learning new things from April, but her recipes genuinely inspire me!

One only needs to LOOK at April’s Limoncello and Blueberry Syllabub to know what I mean!
Blueberry-Limoncello-SyllabubIn case you have never head of this “old English dessert” before, the recipe dates back to the Tudor times with April adding her own unique twist!

You know when you are new to blogging or using a new program and you can’t quite figure things out and you don’t know where or who to ask?

Marilyn from Marilyn’s Treats and Culinary Delights is always the first person to try and help when and where she can and she does it effortlessly!

I really enjoy Marilyn’s “take the bull by the horns” (an American expression) when it comes to all things (is a compliment) and most days you can usually find her checking her pantry and cookbooks “for the next good thing to bake or rustle up.”

I hope you enjoy Marilyn’s Butternut Squash Ravioli in Browned Butter like I do and think adding cranberries is quite unique!
image23-300x225I wish I lived closer to Marilyn as she always shares genuinely, “My door is always open, so knock and come on in for a taste of what’s cooking and a nice cup of fresh coffee.”

I always think Heidy from The McCallum’s Shamrock Patch and I are destined to meet one day!

I honestly can’t remember how we met, but it was through food and love Heidy’s ambition to “be able to  bring a fresh breath of air to your favorite recipes including healthy vintage and retro recipes remakes.”

Heidy is always there to lend a helping hand and her guidance and help to date is more than words can say!

Heidy’s “colorfully exciting” Chicken and Berry Salad – Making the most of your Chicken leftovers really brightened my day!
chicken-and-berry-saladJoy from Yesterfood is “the loveliest person you would ever like to meet!”

I love how Joy shares her passion for “the timeless arts of cooking and sewing,” and her posts are always “so warm and welcoming”, making me feel like I am being invited personally for coffee or tea!

Joy is always willing to share a smile with someone who may need it on any given day!

Joy’s support is unconditional and being able to say I have a friend like Joy is touching in the most unique way!

How gorgeous and lovely is Joy’s Lemon Crunch Coffee Cake?
Lemon Crunch Coffee Cake by Yesterfood 1Katerina from Culinary Flavors has non-ending energy in sharing her passion for all things Greek – food, stories, and childhood memories of her relatives and have I mentioned her beautiful Galaktoboureko?
Galaktoboureko 5aKaterina is wonderfully inspiring through her photos and always is there to share advice, helpful hints and tips and is a lovely person to have met through food!

While I have never met Sawsan from Chef in disguise, I really hope we do get to meet in person one day!

Sawsan and I met through the Daring Kitchen Cooks and Bakers challenges going back to January 2013!

Sawsan was one of the very first people I met there and she was right there, holding my hand, every step of the way, being able to explain things and share an imaginary hug which always made things okay!

I am totally “in awe” of Sawsan’s photography and love how every photo is so expressive and tells a story!

Sawsan has the most beautiful personality and her support, words of encouragement are beyond (once again) what words can say!

I thought Sawsan’s Tea bag cookies were absolutely cute and not only does Sawsan have “an affair with tea”, but I hope to one day meet her, sharing tea, enjoying some cookies and chatting the day away!

One can only wish and hope!

  5. I love reading about and participating in Pay it Forward events. That Steakhouse BBQ Shrimp looks tantalizingly delicious. Shrimp is one of my favorite kinds of seafood, I’m kind of too scared to cook it on my own. I would love to try this recipe though because it is different from what I am used to.

  6. Thanks so much, Joanne, for the wonderful feature. I also enjoyed all the other wonderful recipes and look forward to even trying a few of them.

  7. You are so sweet supporting other bloggers and my what good food they have. I’d love some of that Limoncello and Blueberry Syllabub right now and will have to see if I have enough ingredients to try it. I know I have plenty of blueberries so hopefully I do.

What an inspiring post, Joanne! Thank you sooo much for including me and my little cake, but mostly thank you for sharing all the other kind and talented bloggers! I knew most of them (and wholeheartedly agree with you on how wonderful they are!), but through you, I got to “meet” Sawsan and discover those amazingly creative Teabag Cookies of hers! It’s times like these that we get to remember and celebrate the warm and supportive side of what we do; you have always, always been the leader in that. 🙂
