Let’s cut to the chase, as it is ThermoFun – Techie Tuesday – Fettuccine Carbonara by Leonie!
Here’s a little insight into how my mind was working today, in this FREEZING Adelaide weather!
I wanted something “dreamy, creamy and quick!” lol
Did you ever have one of those days where you are STARVING and when you open your fridge and pantry, despite both of them being fully stocked, there does not seem anything to eat?
Your mind then goes into overdrive, as it is hungry and all it knows is it needs to be fed….quick and now!
It would be a bonus if it was something healthy!
So with a few “quick clicks,” I found Leonie’s recipe and what a great way to satisfy a hunger, asking Thermalina my Thermomix for assistance, which not only saved me time but money, and everything was made right in the Thermomix bowl!
A BONUS for me today too!
As REALLY….who wants to spend lots of time making something to enjoy, only to have a massive clean up at the end!
I “sense,” not you either!
While this is a free recipe by Leonie, she started her ThermoFun Facebook page back in August 2012.
Leonie shares, “Nothing saddens me more than hearing that people don’t use their machines to the fullest extent.”
It is now her mission to try and change this, one recipe at a time!
So that is how the ThermoFun Club came about!
ThermoFunkies Club is for anyone who wants to make sure they are getting all they need to make their Thermomix life easy!
CLICK HERE to find out more about becoming a Thermofunkies Club Member; membership does have its privileges!
I personally love the weekly recipes sent by email via ThermoFun, FREE access to more than 50 documents compiled by Leonie, the great hints and tips, the monthly cooking challenges; I could go on!
Did you know all of the members recipes are collated into one e-cookbook which will be emailed for free to 2015 members?
You now do!
The Thermofunkies are truly a “unique and varied” group of people from all walks of life, but who share their passion for ThermoFun “making decadent food at home!”
The club members provide guidance and support daily “every step of the way,” should someone have a question or does not initially have to confidence in their cooking skills.
No question is ever too silly or stupid, as we all have challenging days and some days, all we need is a little nudge of inspiration to help us on our way!
What I personally like about Leonie’s recipes, is I always learn something along the way, and Leonie always inspires people to be “as creative as can be!”
With FANG, one of my food nicknames, RAVENOUS, this fettuccine carbonara recipe was healthy, delicious and um, FANG licked the plate!
I do hope you are laughing “with me” now!
Before I share my adapted recipe, I thought for the sake of those who do not have a Thermomix, or even for those who do, but have never made spaghetti in the Thermomix, it is a fun thing to view! (CLICK THE LINK!)
As you know by now, I am passionate about minimizing food wastage by using up ingredients I have on hand; hence today’s recipe!
- 100 grams vintage cheddar cheese or grated cheese of choice
- large handful of continental parsley
- 3 garlic cloves; adjust for personal taste
- 15 grams olive oil
- 100 grams thinly sliced gourmet salami
- 6 small spring onions, sliced
- 1200 hot water
- 400 grams fettuccine
- ½ cup frozen peas
- ½ cup from string beans
- 100 grams cooking cream
- 150 grams thickened cream
- 1 egg
- salt for pasta water
- olive oil drizzle (optional)
- black pepper to taste
- In Tmx bowl, mince garlic and parsley; 3 seconds, speed 8; scrape down.
- Add oil, salami, spring onions; saute 5 minutes, Varoma, speed 2, Reverse - MC cup off.
- Pour bacon, garlic and spring onions into Thermoserver to keep warm.
- NO NEED TO WASH Tmx bowl
- Add 1200 grams HOT generously salted water into the Tmx bowl; place lid on and add paste through the hole into bowl. Cook 13 minutes, 100°, soft speed, reverse; in last minute add peas and string beans.
- Drain pasta well and place into the Thermoserver.
- Add cream, egg and cheese; mix well while the pasta is still hot as the heat of the pasta will cook the egg; add black pepper to taste and enjoy!
I can say, this recipe is delicious and it was exactly what I was looking for to satisfy my craving in this FREEZING weather!
I loved the combination of vintage cheddar and gourmet salami!
