Today’s event was no exception!
With no, um, cake decorating “knowledge or experience”, I thought I would give “the challenge” a go! (Aussie lingo for try)
Thanks to Public Relations Manager Annabelle Page and Public Relations Carla Horvath from Appliances Online for sharing they “heard” through the food grapevine that Joanne aka Joanna aka mickeydownunder aka FANG loves a good party and enjoys celebrating any occasion!
At the Adelaide Chocolate School, Belinda from Metro Designer Cakes by Belinda, gave our group a “crash course” in fondant rolling, fondant coloring and other cake decorating skills we would all need to finish decorating our beautiful cakes.
A VERY big thanks to the sponsors Sunbeam, Breville, Morphy Richards and Tefal.
Each of the cakes represented the sponsors and our groups were asked to be “as Adelaide creative as can be” including specific design features and specifications of our chosen cake as well as to include things that could be used in the particular in or with appliance.
Our group consisted of myself, Dee from dbites, Sam from The Smiling Foodie, Emma from More than Churches and Helen from Recycled Interiors.
Helen and I were on “Sunbeam duties,” and decided to “go with the Adelaide creative flow!”
Seeing it is Movember here, I thought I adding a mustache would be fun!
For those not familiar with Movember, during November in Australia, men grow staches (Aussie lingo for mustaches) to raise funds and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer.
Helen’s creativity flowed to including healthy fruits and veggies!
A personal thank you to Belinda who helped Helen and I with “our Sunbeam nose” as every time we try to mold the fondant, it always came out looking like a pig nose; not an attractive feature for our finished Sunbeam cake! lol
